What should I do if I have a colision?

Minutes after a collision is a confusing moment as we are struggling to digest the shocking reality of an accident. Can anyone provide an advice in how to better handle this situation?

Your first option is to immediately call the police, whether the accident causes an injury or not. The police will assess the situation and the damages and decide on the citations and fines. This is an important step if you want to report this situation to the car insurance. You won't be able to make a claim, if there is no official police report.
Whatever you do, never....never engage the other party! While it's important to talk with the other involved party in the auto accident, your first priority is to see whether anyone requires medical attention. Until the police arrives, don't argue with the other party, your discussion should only be as an attempt to gain more information. WIthout doubt, this is a volatile situation, but frustration and angry words will only make your situation more difficult so just try to sort your situation out.

After the police has performed his job, you can contact your insurance company. From the beginning, make sure the insurance coverage includes the towing service and everything that's needed to get your car to working order ASAP. It is preferable to choose only mechanic's shop that is recommended by your insurance company.
