Is it possible to know whether a car is being tracked by GPS?

I rent cars a few times this month and I'm curious, whether I'm being tracked by GPS. How can I know that I'm being tracked?

There are many places where GPS transmitter can be hidden. For example you can check the wheel wells, you should easily spot a transmitter in there, but if your car rental company wants to hide the device, it is unlikely that this is where you can find the device. Some transmitter stick on a magnet, so you may need to check all the metal surface.

You may need to pull back any loose interior piece, including the trunk to look for the transmitter. You may unhinge the rear seat to find a transmitter hidden underneath the rear seat.Glove box and other interior compartments can be used as the installation location of the transmitter. Many cases, the transmitter is hidden inside the dash, so it will be both difficult to find and remove.

You can also remove the speaker covers and the door panels. Another way is to open the hood and check areas especially on the sides for s box-like container, if you're not familiar with car components, finding the transmitter under the hood can be challenging. If necessary use flashlight and mirror to check all the crevices. You should also check the underneath of your car.
