Those that have children or pets understand that there are dangers involved in rolling up windows on cars since the kids and the pets have a tendency to put their hand or their nose in the way. A law was proposed by the auto safety group Kids and Cars that would require automakers to place sensors in the windows and when something was detected to be in the way of the person rolling the window up, the window would automatically start rolling back down. According to the group this would cost automakers around six or eight dollars per window.

However, auto safety regulators have scrapped the idea. The reason is that many automakers stated that having this in place could allow thieves and other criminals to get into the car and cause problems. However, the safety group Kids and Cars maintains that switching these windows to automatic reversal would save two lives each year and hundreds of accidents that are caused by someone getting stuck in the window.

But, it is a no go with automakers, no matter the points that the safety group makes. Is this wise? The windows on the cars nowadays are able to go back down with a touch of the finger. Thus, those that do have pets and kids can always adjust the windows immediately should they find a problem. However, the parent should simply make sure that the kids and pets are not sticking their appendages out of the window since they also increase the chances of getting hit by tree limbs and debris off of the road. And automakers are not wanting to fork out any money that they can save, but with the economy as it is today, who can blame them?

This is more than likely not going to be the last time that this change is proposed as the safety group is dedicated to getting these things changed.
